Severe Depression occurs when the illness is in its worse stages.  Too many Americans will not seek help for this disorder until it is so severe that it takes years to bring under control. Depression of sime type afflicts 15 million people in the USA annually.  The sad fact is that only one third of those suffering this disease will ever seek medical attention.  They try to hide it, wish it away, because of fear of being labeled crazy or insane.  The problem is that Severe Depression will not be wished away.  Those who suffer this disease have no control over it and the condition will only get worse with time.

Many Americans are too ashamed to admit they are afflicted.  Severe depression does not make you sub-human.  You are not less of a person.  Depression is a real medical condition.  It requires treatment and support.  When it becomes severe depression the symptoms become even worse.  The intensity kicks up many notches.  Social situations and work become more difficult.  Negative feelings intensify to make you a total loner. This disease can’t be avoided. However, it can be treated. It’s vital to detect it early.

It takes some skill to diagnose depression from its symptoms. There are many different symptoms that are identified with depression. The victim will begin to pull out of the world around them. They find it impossible to handle relationships with other people. They cannot overcome their feelings of guilt, hopelessness and uselessness. They are constantly agitated and irritable. In some cases of severe depression people claim to hear evil spirits whispering in their ear. Suicide often becomes a way out for victims of severe depression. It takes treatment and a great deal of support from loved ones to help people with the disease.

Severe depression is terrible. Those who suffer it cannot live normal lives, as they once knew it. A loss of self control is a horrible prospect. Treatment is the only option. Typically, anti-depressants and ‘talk therapy’ are prescribed to treat depression. There are also many support groups available to assist these individuals to adjust in society. Treatment starts the process of recovery for people. It’s very possible to regain control over their lives. To reach that point one must first face their illness and pursue solutions.
